Also, there are twice as many jobs available in these two professions Data science and Artificial Intelligence for the job seekers.

Why its happening?

India lacks massively when it comes to talent in data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence,” said Hari Krishnan Nair, co-founder of Great Learning. “With more and more jobs increasingly becoming data-driven, the need of the hour is for professionals to upskill themselves to stay relevant.”

According to the Nair, the reason many AI jobs cannot find the talent to fill shoes is because the companies are wanting to implement the projects those are of much high standard of the data skills required. The people those having the kind of skills are very few because of  the lack of education they had.

What people learn in colleges is not in sync with what is being used in industry,” he said. “Most of these individuals passed out a while back. Now a lot of things are getting automated; newer opportunities are coming up. That is where there is a dearth of talent.

According to the research, blthe banking and the financial services is th biggest market for the data science and the analytics professionals those have created 44 percent of these jobs last year.

The report also indicate that most of the job postings in this field are looking fo the candidates having knowledge of SQL programming and knowledge of Python is also important. As Python is th fastest growing programming language these days.

Most of the companies are looking for hiri g the data scientists and analysts or the technical architects, machine learning engineers, the data engineers and othet similar  professionals. Most of the times, the salary hike for these professions is 45 percent than the usual ones.

New tech will continually evolve at a breakneck pace. Professionals need to upskill themselves, innovate and do newer things. Every four to five years, your competencies will have to change,” Nair added.
