Nokia 8 Is Coming: HMD Global All Set To Announce The Highly Awaited Flagship In Its Event Today!

Today, HMD Global is all set to announce its flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8, in India.

The smartphone is reported to have flagship specifications and will come at a price of Rs. 36,999. The price has been confirmed by the recent listing of Nokia 8 in the Amazon’s landing page. The listing further leads to a ‘Notify Me’ page which reveals more details about the device.

Putting Nokia 8 at Rs. 36,999 makes it a direct rival to One Plus 5.

The phone looks promising and because it is Nokia, it already has an upper hand in terms of brand recognition which can help it further to smoke off the One Plus 5.

However, unlike rumors, the Nokia 8 doesn’t sport a bezel-less design, which has become the most demanding feature in the smartphone arena this year after the announcement of iPhone X.

But to compensate that lack of a bezel-less display, the Nokia 8 uses a 6000 series aluminum for a premium metal unibody design.

The smartphone will feature a 5.3-inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone is said to have 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM, further expandable up to 256GB via the dedicated micro-SD card slot.

To give One Plus 5 a run for its money, the Nokia 8 will also feature a dual rear camera setup. It will include a dual 13MP rear camera with one color sensor and another monochrome sensor. The imaging quality is said to be market defeating, even so, going far above One Plus 5 and near close to iPhone 7 Plus’ camera.

The primary camera will come with an aperture of f/2.0 and will have optical image stabilization with the famous and incredible Carl Zeiss optics. The front camera will also be a 13MP set up with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus.

The smartphone will also feature a new Bothie mode that uses both front and rear cameras simultaneously with a dual-sight mode.

The camera will also have goodies like the integration of Facebook Live and YouTube Live in the camera’s interface.

The camera will also be able to record 4K videos with Nokia OZO 360-degree audio that uses three microphones and audio recording algorithm. End result- a near-cinematic video output.

On the software front the Nokia 8 will come with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, but as per the recent press release, an Android 8.0 Oreo update is on its way already.

A 3090mAh battery along with support for fast charging has also been given which makes the phone last longer and charge even quicker.

The Nokia 8 is expected to come in the colors tempered blue, polished blue, steel, and polished copper color variants.

The smartphone is expected to be available online exclusively on Amazon India and might also be made available via offline retail channels. More details can only be confirmed after the HMD Global conducts its events today.

But the one thing which we can see as of now is that with Nokia 8, Nokia has finally marked its territory again and after its resurrection by HMD Global, it has just got even more brutal and fascinating. As once a wise man said-

What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.

Welcome back, old friend!
