Mobile Premier League raises $35.5M led by Sequoia India

Bengaluru-based e-sports startup Mobile Premier League (MPL) has boosted $35.5 million in its profit. The reserves and profits earned will be used principally for merchandise and user extension. Last year, MPL had raised $5 million directed by Sequoia India. The entire funding established by the firm now attains at $40.5 million. MPL declares to be one of Playstore’s top ranking apps crossed categories with over 25 million installs presenting it one of the quickest developing application in India.

Sai and Shubham Malhotra founder of the MPL(mobile premier league) which is an app-based portal that lets people fight in skill-based games and gain real prizes. Prior to this, Sai and Shubham founded Creo, which was later on purchased by Hike in the year 2017.

In the span of just seven to eight months, MPL has previously notched up 10 million application users and is being called the country’s fastest-growing e-sports application. It is the number one application in the ‘Casual’ section of the Google Play Store in India. With 25 million installs now, it is also the quickest growing app in the country.

“We need to concentrate on dealing the users. Our motive is to present multiple games and forms so that whenever visitors come to our application, they can get all kinds of rival gaming on one app,” said Sai Srinivas Kiran G, Co-founder, and CEO, Mobile Premier League. Just before the commencement of Vivo IPL 2019, MPL signed in with Team India captain Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador in a contract reportedly estimated at around Rs 12 crore. Miten Sampat, VP-Corporate Development of Times Internet, said MPL had caught the vision of gamers on the era of smartphones like no other.

Mobile eSports is shifting to successful by the day and MPL points to crack restrictions of passage to present mobile gaming a household sport over the country. Talking on the connection Samir Sood, Founder, Venture Highway said “E-gaming has observed a spontaneous increase in India with the active perception of digital support. In a short timeframe, MPL has bestowed tremendous growth, capturing a sizeable chunk of this market.
