Oppo Prepares To Invest $1.5 billion in Research And Development

Last month Chinese smartphone manufacturing firm Oppo inaugurated its first Research and Development Center (R & D) in the Hyderabad state of India. Oppo opened its fourth global R & D research center in India as there are millions of smartphone users in this country. On the occasion of the inauguration, the firm stated that at the beginning of 6 to 12 months, the research center will focus on developing the smartphone technology suitable for the Indian Consumer and according to the advancement of technology. This step will assist the company to make localized innovation in India.

Now Oppo has recently stated its plans of 2019 to invest an amount of $1.5 billion in the sector of research and development this with a main focus and goal on developing the strong networks of 5G. Oppo also has unveiled its first 5G smartphone which is completely based on the next generation advanced technology.

According to Henry Tang (Director of Oppo India) “Despite improving the connectivity to 5G, Oppo will also focus on making artificial intelligence more advanced, improving product design, flash charging, introducing nanotechnology to make smartphones handier”.

Oppo also plans to open more and more R&D centers to improve the technology of its vast smartphone empire. This step will also aim to improve the employment status in this firm. Meanwhile, this organization even declared its partnership with four global telecom operators that are Optus, Swisscom, Telstra, and SingTel. Oppo has joined hands with Qualcomm for producing 5G smartphone on its chipset.

Oppo India Vice President and R & D Head Tasleem Arif said that this center will focus on most software-based solutions, which will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Camera, Charging and 5G. He said that we will soon see a fully developed smartphone in India which can be launched in 2019. He also stated that in the R & D center the primary focus will be on other products other than smartphones. These research will produce innovative products like a smartwatch and other internet things. Currently, 50 developers and 50 quality testers are working in currently opened Hyderabad’s R & D center. The company will hire more than 500 engineers in the next coming years.

In addition to this, Oppo introduced its first 5G smartphone just before the Mobile World Congress. The company claims that it is the world’s first 5G smartphone. In the event held in Barcelona, ​​the company also gave a glimpse of its first 5G smartphone for a while.
