Currently Apple has 1.3 billion users all around the world which include older iPhones that get regular updates from the Cupertino Giant. Last night at WWDC, Apple unveiled that every iPhone that ran iOS 11 will be getting the iOS 12 update and it will increase the efficiency of older iPhones.

The latest version of the operating system will make older devices like the iPhone 6 work better and faster than ever before. The new operating system will be available on the iPhone and iPad and simple tasks such as opening apps will be twice as fast on iOS 12. The new OS will only work on products that date back to 2013 which is a great feat given Android smartphones are unable to achieve this feat.

Apple software chief Craig Federighi said that apps will launch 40 percent faster with iOS 12 and will also affect the camera and keyboard display. For Apple, client satisfaction is the biggest priority and the same can be said about users with older devices.

“For iOS 12, we are doubling down on performance,” said Federighi.

Apple’s commitment to support older devices is a great business move as it would prove to be a good investment for users even years later after their purchase. Even though supporting older devices is time-consuming, expensive and tedious, Apple cares about their users who spend a lot of money on their products.

iOS 12 will be bringing little improvements to devise and will include new features such as Siri Shortcuts, ARkit 2, group FaceTime, Measure app and screen time tracking. The new update will be supported by devices such as the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X; iPad Air, Air 2 and 5th-gen iPad; iPad Mini 2, 3, and 4, and all iPad Pro models.
