Once in every while rises one Indian who stands on the global stage and makes the nation look above with proud eyes welling with admiration and compassion. They not only make a mark in the world history but also embrace the ply of fellow countrymen who sought to soar high and take stand by their dreams. This time it is the young and obviously beautiful lady lad from Haryana- Miss World 2017, Manushi Chillar!
India’s Manushi Chillar has the coveted the highly reputed Miss World 2017 pageant in China, 17 years after Priyanka Chopra won the title in 2000 and has joined the league of the likes of Aishwarya Rai. The 20-year-old from Haryana, who is an MBBS student, bordered out top five contenders from England, France, Kenya and Mexico at the event, which witnessed participation from 118 countries.
But as behind every success, there has to be a story, Manushi has hers as well.
Manushi Chillar hails from the Indian state of Haryana and was born to doctor parents, studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.
Being a middle-class family girl dreaming to become a model or beauty pageant in a small town of Haryana was like an infant asking for the moon. Especially in a state where gender bias and discrimination is so high, Manushi has obviously now proved her town people wrong about their perception of ‘how should women work!’ Her feta has now inspired so many other girls of the state and the country who dream to make it big in life on their own.
Manushi Chhillar had also won the Femina Miss India 2017 earlier this year.
At the Miss World stage of honour, she was also named one of the five winners of the Beauty with a Purpose award at Miss World 2017 on Saturday.
The other winners of the title are contestants from South Africa, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines. The model from Haryana was inching closer to the Miss World crown as she has gone straight from top 40 to 15. As many as 108 beauty queens from different parts of the world were participating in the prestigious beauty pageant.
At the event, Chillar competed against 108 contestants from various countries at a glittering event held at Sanya City Arena in China. Miss World 2016 winner Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle passed the coveted crown to the winner. And with the crown came back home after a massive count of 17 years.
The time when she gained the top five spot, her entire family including brother and sister were present at the event scenario and they looked evidently excited watching their girl grabbing top five spots.
Manushi’s intellect was proved when in the question and answer round post getting the top five spot, she was asked:
Which profession deserves the highest salary and why?
and she replied:
I think a mother is of highest respect. I don’t think its just about cash but love and respect she gives to someone. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. Mother should get highest respect.
This question stirred the heart of almost everyone and made mark worldwide. Her answer was by-heart and so it touched so many others as well!
Recently, this small town girl turned winner of world beauty fame is about to complete her MBBS and then head on to maybe Bollywood. Aamir Khan’s team has already shown intent to cast in her some potent script in future. And, we can only wish heights for this beautiful young lady!
