Ronaldo is perhaps the greatest player who plays the game today. And, his journey is something that teaches us that if you want to be the best, settle for nothing less than the best.

The legendary footballer has been known worldwide for his sheer game, style statement, and, of course, the women he dates.

But before all this, Cristanio was just a regular teenager, albeit with great dreams in his eyes.

The boy was crazy for football. He ate, drank and breathe soccer. The talent was exceptional yet notorious.

Ronaldo was notorious for sure. So much so, that he was expelled from the school. He had assaulted his teacher by throwing a chair at him. Reason being, he had told him that studies were more important than football.

I had always been a keen footballer and by the time he turned 14 years old, I decided to concentrate on becoming a professional footballer.

Ronaldo had been playing soccer for Androrinha since he was eight. His interest in football, but was not supported by his financial condition as he belonged to a very average family which didn’t even have the money to buy his sports gear.

But he was not a man to give up so easily. He played barefoot for all his rogue days and started getting noticed by the right people.
He voluntarily participated in various local leagues and one day, he was spotted by the manager of the English club who was moved by his performance and led him to the club in the same year.
Ronaldo’s first great break came later in 1995 when he got to join another, major club ‘Nacional’ located in his hometown of Madeira. And supplanted by his dogfighter style, he met one of the biggest clubs in Portugal, specifically, ‘Sporting CP’ after clearing a test.
During his time at the Sporting CP Cristiano played at all the levels, i.e., under-16, under-17, under-18, B-team, and the first team before finally measuring into the senior team in the year 2002.

Ronaldo scored two goals in his league debut and declared his arrival on the big scene.

And then there was no stopping for him. WAith several medals under his collar, Cristiano Ronaldo was an indispensable part of the Portuguese national team and played his first world cup in the 2006 Football World Cup. As they reached the semifinal of the tournament; Ronaldo scored one goal in the tournament.
The following year he was elected the captain of the national team.

In 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo became the most expensive player in the world after Spanish giant Real Madrid paid Manchester United £80 million to bring him to Madrid. He scored 33 goals in his very first season.

In the following season, he ended the Spanish league season with 40 goals, which became a record in the league’s history and helped Real Madrid win the Copa del Rey.

Later, Ronaldo led Portugal at the Football World Cup in South Africa in 2010 but he had a quiet tournament- the team was knocked out by Spain in the round of 16.
In 2012, Cristiano Ronaldo helped Real Madrid win the Spanish league title and it proved to be his first league title with the club. He scored 60 goals in all competitions in the season as Real Madrid cantered to the title with 100 points.

In 2013, he won the FIFA World Player of the Year Award and won it again the subsequent year.

In 2014 World Cup, Ronaldo was in sublime form as he notched up 61 goals in total and also became the fastest player to reach the 200 goal milestone in the Spanish league. He reached it in 178 games.
 

Today, Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for being the highest scorer in the history of Real Madrid with 338 goals.
