PM Modi Drops Plausible Hints On Extending Lockdown

Given the country’s growing cases of coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that it would not be possible to drop lockdown on April 14. Further, he has hinted a possible extension in the lockdown period. No official confirmation has been made by the Central Government to increase the lockdown. The final announcement of the extension of lockdown will get announced on 11th April after conferring with state governments.

PM Modi held a meeting with the opposition leaders of the country through video conferencing. In this conference, the measures to prevent this lessen the epidemic and the issue of lockdown got discussed. PM said that he would take a final decision on the issue of lockdown after talking to the Chief Ministers of the states, but it is unlikely that the lockdown will end soon.

The Prime Minister said two things prominently. First, that lockdown will be ended in several phases and second, that life before and after Corona will not be the same.

Significantly, the cases of coronavirus have increased in the past week. The number of corona-affected people in the country has risen to 5194, while 149 people have died. Most numbers of cases got reported in Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu.

Fifteen UP Districts Sealed Till April 30th

In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to seal the coronavirus hotspot locations. Hotspot locations include areas of Agra, Meerut, Bareilly, Kanpur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Noida and few other cities. The hotspot locations will get sealed until April 30th. The government has ensured that people residing in these locations would get essential items at their doorsteps.

Mumbai Set To Extend Lockdown Till 30th April

In Maharashtra, coronavirus is becoming uncontrollable as the state has reported more than 1000 cases so far. Mumbai can extend the lockdown measures till 30th April. Nine coronavirus cases have got reported from Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi.
