Here are the highlights of today –
- The BJP government has received a major setback once again in September on the goods and service tax collection front. This time again, GST collection has been less than one lakh crore rupees in September. According to the data released by the revenue department, a total of GST collection of Rs 91,916 crore has been done in September against 98203 crores in August.
- The initial public issue (IPO) of the state-run Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) received an 81% subscription in the opening business hours on Monday, the first day of opening. As per the stock market data, bids have been received for 1.63 crore shares on the first day.
- Auto company Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced a new company by a joint venture (Ford Venture) with Ford Motor. In this joint venture, both Mahindra and Ford will be selling vehicles. Mahindra will have a 51 percent stake in this agreement and Ford will have a 49 percent stake.
- Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has again received a setback in the INX Media case. The court has extended Chidambaram’s custody till October 17.
- It looks like there is no relief in the automobile industry yet. Sales of Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, fell 24.4 percent. It sold 122,640 cars in September this year as compared to 162,290 cars sold in the same period last year.
- The stock market turned negative on Thursday. The 30-share index of the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 198.54 points to end at 38,106.87, while the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was down 46.80 points at 11,313.10.
- Four policemen were killed by a man with a knife in a police headquarters in Paris. It is being told that the attacker used to work in the headquarters only. Later the attacker was also shot down, the reason for the attack is not known yet. A high alert has been issued in France, the investigation is also being done from the perspective of terrorist attack.
- On October 4, the Reserve Bank may decide to reduce interest rates in its monetary policy. According to the research of State Bank, this deduction can further reduce the interest rates received on more than four crore term deposit accounts of the elderly.
- Now Airtel and Vodafone Idea have reduced the ring time from 30 seconds to 25 seconds on outgoing calls from their network. Earlier, Reliance Jio had reduced the ring time of outgoing calls from its network to 25 seconds.
- The first arrest took place on Thursday in the PMC bank scam case. The Economic Offenses Wing of Mumbai Police arrested Sarang Wadhwa and Rakesh Wadhwa, directors of Housing Development Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL).
