Two weeks ago, Sonia got bail from the Allahabad High Court from this case. Sonia’s lawyer Prashant Tripathi says that from the past few months, company’s owners were pressurizing her to sell all the shares of the company. According to Sonia’s lawyer “Sonia and her husband received a call on September 22, 2018, in which they demanded five crore rupees. Paytm has tried to spoil their image and given legal threats to them.”

Sonia Dhawan was an ordinary employee in a newspaper company, but her fate changed as soon as she reached Paytm and she reached the company’s vice presidential post in a short span of just eight years. Even after the trials were taken into judicial custody, Rohit managed to get a stay from Allahabad High Court after his arrest. So far it is not clear whether Ajay Shekhar Sharma, who is lodging the case, will withdraw his case. Only after the case was filed, Dhawan’s counsel had said that pressure was being made to sell her stake of the company. Sonia Dhawan had the option of 0.008% stakes in one 97 Communications and 0.02% of Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP) in Paytm E-Commerce Private Limited.
