India has always been a cricket-worshipping nation. However, other sports such as badminton, boxing, tennis, football, kabbadi etc. too have now started to attract fans significantly. A major credit of their growing popularity goes to the remarkable performances by Indian players.
And gradually, sports is becoming a huge business activity with phenomenal profit margins and return on investment.
And this fact was also conceived and forelooked by Harish Krishnamachar during working with World Sports Group, a global sports management company functioning for more than a decade.
And as he identified the opportunity to capitalize the entire sports industry, Harish founded Sportoid in January 2016 as a platform that seeks to bring a more simple yet effective approach to sports management.
It offers clients consulting and delivery regarding sports and sports management along with helping them overcome core marketing issues by providing and implementing feasible and most efficient solutions.
In short, it is trying to develop a more effective platform to promote and conduct sports management activities.
Though Sportoid focuses extensively on the professional representation of cricket, it also functions in other sports like football, kabaddi and golf.
The founder says-
The company aims to add value to clients through associations with national and international events like the ICC World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC T20 World Cup, BCCI properties like Test and One-day series and the hugely popular Indian Premier League, as well as FA-Premier league, AIFF I-League, Indian Super League and Star Sports-Pro Kabaddi League, among others!
Currently, the company is bootstrapped and has no plans to raise any investment recently. What it is rather focusing to go pan India and maximise its client base to ensure a sustainable growth.
Upon further questioning, Harish said-
What sets Sportoid apart is the in-depth understanding of the sports industry and our relationships across broadcasters, athletes, teams, agencies and sporting associations.
The biggest challenge is to be able to execute the ideas and recommendations we made to clients. We need to co-opt the image and rights holders into the ideation process to ensure we were able to deliver.
This unique venture has recently worked many popular brands like MRF, Gionee, Duroflex Mattresses etc. to establish his strong footprint in the market. Involvement of such big brands also helped the start-up reach to a large number of consumers.
Sportoid has also been involved with three major IPL sports teams- Sun Risers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and, Royal Challengers Bangalore.
