Xiaomi Launches The MiPad To Take The Apple iPad Mini Head On!

Over since decades, Apple has been playing monopoly in the tablet PC arena with their famous iPads. Many attempts by tech majors like Samsung, LG, Lenovo etc. have been made to break the ecosystem but went futile due to the top-notch quality of the former and a loyal customer base that enriches on iOS’ sheer user experience. But, now the market banger, Xiaomi is all set to take the iPad head-on as the Chinese tech giant delivered a one-two stroke at an event in New Delhi lately.

Not only did it announce the Redmi 2, a follow up to the Redmi 1S smartphone it released last year, it also announced the Mi Pad, an iPad Mini rival priced aggressively at just Rs. 12,999.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad, a 7.9-inch tablet that runs on a Tegra K1 processor will be launched in India on Flipkart on March 24. Customers can buy the tablet without registering before.

The Mi Pad’s aggressive pricing of Rs. 12,999 is a bold move. Tablets in this class usually cost upwards of Rs. 20,000.

The build quality looked solid and feature set is yet to be unveiled shortly. But, going by the trends it is speculated to house a 3GB RAM and 32/ 64 GB storage as default also with Android Oreo 8.0, as every other mid-range Mi is either updated or being stocked with this latest version of Android.

The iPad Mini runs at a price range of INR 24,000 with just Wi-fi but MiPad is said to house an inbound 4G LTE and VoLTE band that would put the Apple device at more risk than ever. Given that the styling of this device is near close to that of Apple, the company is surely targeting to take a chunk of their share from the market and acquire new customers by offering a near-same and more versatile device at almost half the price.

Xiaomi, which only began operating in India in July 2014, has already a 4 percent smartphone market share in the country.

As more details surface, it’d definitely be interesting to see the combat of the aged legend with the newcomer which might again revive the tablet segment and take the heat up during late winters this season.
