Stephen Hawking And his Journey through Life

Stephen William Hawking was born on 8 January 1942 in Oxford England. When he turned 8 years, his family had shifted to St. Albans which is a town located almost twenty miles north of London. After turning eleven he started studying at Albans School.

Eventually he started his college in Oxford University where even his father had studied. Stephen was willing to take up mathematics as his subject but his father wanted him to pursue Medicine. Though due to unavailability of mathematics in the university, he had to pursue physics.

He suddenly in the last few months of his graduation started Experiencing clumsiness, he also fell on stairs and faced difficulty rowing. The problem worsened and his family started witnessing changes when he returned home for Christmas. Medical investigations started.

Stephen was a former professor of Mathematics in Cambridge University and an author of A Brief History of Time which was known as the best seller in the international market. His other books include The Universe in the Nutshell, Baby Universe and Black Holes.

In the year 1963, Stephen was detected with Motor neurone disease and he was given not more than 2 years to live. Still he kept on his fighting spirit and attended Cambridge to become a Brilliant Professional fellow and a researcher at Gonville and Caius College. He at Cambridge University held the position of Lucasian Professor From the year 1978 to the year 2009, the chair which was held in 1663 by Issac Newton. In the year 1982, Professor Hawking was awarded with the CBE and even had honorary degrees which were more than a dozen. He was a member of US national Academy of Science and the fellow of Royal society. Since Einstein, Stephen was considered one of the most brilliant theoretical physicist.

It was For the very first time when Hawking turned his gaze inwards for a look which was revealing at his own life and intellectual evolution. He had mentioned about his problems in the book he wrote.

Stephen specified about the challenges he faced after his diagnosis of ALS when he turned 21. He had a rare early onset, slow progressing form of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) which slowly paralysed him over decades. Though he was paralysed but he was still able to communicate using a single cheek muscle which was adhered to a speech generating device.

His personal Life:

Hawking met Jane Wilde a friend of his sister when he graduated from Cambridge. His relationship with Jane continued to grow and later they got engaged in 1964. Later. He then concluded that his relation with Jane gave him a reason to live. They finally got married on 14 July 1965.

Death:

After a long struggling journey of life, Hawking expired in the morning Of 14th March 2018 in Cambridge England. His family members expressed grief, but they did not reveal the cause of his death. Instead they stated “Died peacefully”.
