India’s technology services industry body Nasscom and the United Kingdom will work together to help Indian startups by giving them access to capital and a platform to go global, as per media reports.
As a part of the partnership with the UK, Nasscom launched its FutureSkills platform in the UK with techUK to promote the growth of skills needed for a world where artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics and cybersecurity will be major technological growth areas.
“The foundation of this partnership is going to be talent development and innovation…FutureSkills will be launching at the end of May…The platform looks at employability so we look at the emerging tech that will have the most impact on new job creations,”
said Debjani Ghosh, President, Nasscom.
Indian technology companies, many of them Nasscom members, account for over 30,000 tech jobs in the UK.
The UK’s Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, Matt Hancock and National Association of Software and Services Companies on Friday also launched the fourth edition of the India-UK TECH Rocketship Awards.

The awards offer a week-long sponsored trip to the UK exposing them to prospective business partners, investors, and incubators during the London Tech Week 2019.
Applications for the programme are open 11 May, and seven winners will be selected from among the seven categories of artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, fintech, med-tech, internet of things and a Judge’s Choice Award.
Recently, Norwegian impact accelerator Katapult Accelerator had invited startups from India to apply for its third cohort. It intends to fund each startup with up to USD 150,000 and bring them to Oslo for the three-month program.
The startups need to be early-stage and aim to solve global problems within both environmental and societal domains. They must do so through the use of exponential technologies like artificial intelligence, the blockchain, virtual reality, augmented reality, and applications of the internet of things.
The third cohort commences in August 2018 and applications are open now. The startups will have access to more than 120 international mentors, and receive hands-on support from the Katapult Accelerator team.
