Know How Much Sleep Is Required For People Of Different Ages

Good sleep is equally important for our body as much as other nutrients. Sleeping in adequate amounts is the main part of our daily routine. If we do not take enough sleep for one night then the next day will be exhausting and the quality of work will also be irritable. Experts have different opinions about how many hours a person should sleep throughout the day.

The need for every human being to sleep is different. Many people sleep for four to five hours, while many people sleep for eight to ten hours. According to the researchers, it is mandatory for any healthy person to sleep seven to eight hours at night. Women and children also need more sleep than grown-up men. America’s “Charity National Sleep Foundation,” says that for a better lifestyle, proper sleep is a must. Lack of regular lifestyle, consumption of alcohol, coffee, and energy drink is something that can affect your daily routine. According to age, everyone has a different need for sleep.

Newborn (0-3 months) – Newborns should take between 14 and 17 hours of sleep every day. Although they are adequate to sleep for 11 to 13 hours, they are advised not to sleep for more than 19 hours.

Infant (4-11 months) – It is recommended to take 12 to 15 hours of sleep for infants. At least 10 hours is enough but their sleep should never be more than 18 hours.

Small children (3-5 years) – Experts recommend 10 to 13 hours of sleep for them. Less than 8 hours and more than 14 hours of sleep are not considered right for these children as they are in the developing stage.

Children of school age (6-13 years) – The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) recommends sleep for 9 to 11 hours for these children. For these less than 7 and sleeping hours, more than 11 are not considered correct.

Adolescence (14-17 years) – They have been advised to sleep for 8 to 10 hours, but the National sleep foundation does not believe it should be less than 7 and more than 11 hours of sleep.

Adult (18-25 years) – 7-9 hours for adults is recommended, but they should not sleep less than 6 hours and not more than 11 hours.

Elderly (26-64 years) – 7 to 9 hours is sufficient.

Elderly (over 65 years) – People of this age have been advised to sleep for 7-8 hours. They should not sleep less than 5 hours and not more than 9 hours.
