Eazy Dinner, Table Reservation Startup Raises $5.8 Mn

EazyDiner is an online table reservation startup which has raised $5.85Mn in a series B funding which was led by Early Stage Investment Firm Beenext and Denlow Investment Trust. The brand ambassador of the EazyDiner is none other than the famous cricketer Yuvraj Singh. He had earlier invested an undisclosed sum in the startup. EazyDiner was valued at $39.99 Mn after this funding. The company has plans to use a significant portion of the new funding in order to expand its presence and also to improve its loyalty program.

John Price, chairman of Mars Pension Trustee, the UK-based pension fund of the US-based food giant Mars, will be joining Eazy-Diner’s board. “We will be focusing on improving our technology stack, and expanding our footprints within and outside the country’s borders,” said Rohit Dasgupta, CEO of EazyDiner. Till now, the company has raised nearly Rs 51 crore across all the rounds. EazyDiner operates in nine cities, which also includes Dubai, and is expecting to be in six more locations by the end of the current fiscal.

As part of its international expansion, the startup is also targeting to set up its operations in Abu Dhabi by the second or third quarter of the upcoming year. Founded in 2015 by Vir Sanghvi and other top hoteliers, EazyDiner is a restaurant table reservation platform. It also counts Sue Reitz, Sachin Pabreja, Shruti Kaul, Ruchika Dhamija, and Manish Kutula among its founders. Previously, the company had raised $4.5 Mn in the funding round which was led by the existing backers DSG Consumer Partners and the Saama Capital in October.

Besides Dasgupta, the company also counts the media personality Vir Sanghvi as a founder, along with the other six professionals having a background in food, beverages and hospitality sectors. EazyDiner, combines the services of Google-owned dining guide Zagat, NYSE-listed restaurant reviews firm Yelp and Priceline-owned restaurant booking service OpenTable, and also competes with the likes of online food ordering platform Zomato, which has begun to make substantial strides in the space, as well as the DineOut.

According to the company, it has total 56000 restaurants out of which 2500 are bookable instantly. It also claims  that in order to place more than one lakh diners across all the restaurants, it charges between Rs 75 and Rs 150 per dinner. “It is a market leader in its segment and is reducing the friction between the diner and the restaurant significantly. We are committed to be investing in EazyDiner for the long term and pleased with profitability in four cities in a short span of 2.5 years,” Shahdadpuri said in an email response. The company has also announced strategic partnership with the travel site called as TripAdvisor.
