Nearly seven months after notifying the Goa Startup policy, the government launched the incentive schemes under the policy along with the startup portal on Saturday.
Delivering the keynote address, union minister for commerce and industry, and civil aviation Suresh Prabhu said that startups would be the new engine of growth for Goa.
Prabhu unveiled the startup policy, schemes, and startup portal for entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and representatives from the industry in the presence of minister for information and technology Rohan Khaunte, chief secretary Dharmendra Sharma and IT secretary Ameya Abhyankar.
The crowd-sourced platform that provides train-related travel information RailYatri has raised its third round of institutional funding led by Omidyar Network. The Series B round also saw participation from existing investors including Nandan Nilekani, Blume Ventures, and Helion Venture Partners.
RailYatri has so far raised $6 million since its inception in 2011.The Noida-based firm had recently acqui-hired food technology firm YatraChef to boost its food-on-rail service.Train tickets, bus tickets and food from its key revenue churning verticals accounting for almost 90% of the company’s revenue share.
San Francisco and Bengaluru based developer tools startup, Hasura announced having raised a USD 1.6 million seed round investment from Nexus Venture Partners and GREE Ventures. The round was led by Nexus Venture Partners.
The Hasura platform gives developers an extremely high-performance data layer (GraphQL and JSON), API gateway with authentication middleware, and GitOps automation.
Hasura also provides for Kubernetes clusters on different cloud-vendors in a single command for developers and allows complete porting of an application from one cloud-vendor to another automatically.
Dairy startup Happy Cow Dairy Co has raised about Rs 4 crore in its seed round of funding from a clutch of angel investors including the former executive at Citibank and serial entrepreneur Mahendra Mehta and others. The Mumbai-based startup intends to use the capital to further expand its operations.
The startup was founded in November 2017 by Sarad Garodia, former Head of Britannia’s Dairy division. Happy Cow Dairy aggregates milk from dairy farmers by building milk collection centres enabled with technology near milk farms in Maharashtra and provides them in bulk to dairy corporations such as Schreiber Dynamix Dairy.
