Significant People Who Found Great Success after Being Fired

Getting fired can be demoralizing in any individual’s life. However, these significantly successful people show us how to bounce back from that. For some getting fired is the exact push that they needed to launch their success stories that they have become today.

These people got kicked and turned their termination into an opportunity.

Steve Jobs

He was fired from the company he co-founded, Apple. When he was away from Apple, Jobs co-founded the company NeXT. It was later acquired by Apple and Pixar Animation Studios was launched. His second act became bigger and better than his first. After a decade when he returned to Apple he invented iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

Walt Disney

Disney was fired from the Kansas City Star. His editor told him that he lacked imagination and good ideas. Even with further failure in his life Disney never gave up hunting success and set his sights on a more profitable area which was Hollywood. His brother and he moved to California and produced a successful cartoon series.

J.K Rowling

She worked as a secretary for the London office of Amnesty International. Her dreams though were always to be a writer. She used to daydream about a teenage wizard named Harry Potter and write stories on her work computer. Her employers were tired and let her go. She focused on writing as her severance check helped her support herself for few years. Presently, she is the multi-billionaire author of one of the most successful book series of all time.

Madonna

Madonna had a rough start when she dropped out of college and moved to New York to find fame. To survive she took up a job at Dunkin’ Donuts in Times Square. However, she didn’t last a day. Her managers fired her after she squirted jelly filling all over a customer. She then went through much fast food and waitressing jobs before she finally was introduced to the city’s punk rock music scene. Even with the low paying gigs, she knew she was meant to be a star.

Oprah Winfrey

Winfrey as an evening news reporter couldn’t help but get emotionally invested in her stories. The Baltimore’s WJZ-TV producer got fed up. He pulled her off the air and as consolation offered her a role on a daytime TV show. Initially, heartbroken Winfrey quickly found success when “People Are Talking”, became a huge hit. That is when she realized that her true calling was to be a talk show host.
