Kolkata Airport To Be Shut Down Due To Cyclone Fani

The Indian aviation body DGCA said that due to the cyclone, flights to and from Bhubaneswar will be cancelled on May 3. DGCA said that due to the Cyclone, the movement of flights from Kolkata Airport will remain closed from 3 am to 3 pm and from 6 pm to 3 pm.

States located on the east coast like West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu can also be affected by the cyclone. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in the consultation that the flights had already been cancelled due to inconvenience to passengers and safe operation. It has been said in the consultation that after the approval of the respective air traffic control, the operations of the flights will start soon. Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday said that all airport authorities have been asked to be cautious to deal with cyclone Fani. The cyclone is ​​likely to enter the coastal area of ​​Odisha. Other states of the east coast like West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu are also likely to be affected by this.

IndiGo has issued a travel consultation on Twitter saying, “The aircraft coming to Visakhapatnam due to the cyclone has been cancelled today (May 2, 2019). The airline has also said that the return option or ticket withdrawal option can be done by contacting the company’s website. Vistara Airline has also issued a travel consultation on Twitter saying that on May 2 and 3, the influence of Cyclone will probably be in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata, so it is waiving the fee for making changes or cancellation of tickets in those aircraft.

GoAir, the economical airline company, has waived off flights from Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, and Ranchi, or cancelled tickets, from May 2 to May 5 in view of the Fani Cyclone too. The company gave this information. Fani is expected to reach Odisha coast on Friday. Due to the upcoming cyclone, the flights of different airlines are already affected.
