Industrialist billionaire Mukesh Ambani is about to start a new chapter in the world of entertainment by launching Reliance Jio GigaFiber Broadband. On 12th August, Reliance announced that the Jio Giga Broadband service is going to launch soon for the public. This service will be available to customers by 5th September. Reliance has gifted it to its customers under their service.
Customers will get the benefit of this broadband service at an initial price of Rs 700 per month. During the Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani informed that customers with home broadband service Jio GigaFiber will provide broadband speeds of up to 1GBPS, landline phones, ultra high definition entertainment, virtual reality content, multi-party video conferencing, voice-enabled virtual assistant, interactive gaming, Home security, and smart home solutions will be available. JIO Fiber plans will start from Rs 700 to Rs 10,000 and voice calls will be available for free. The users will get access to OTT apps with Jio Fiber. Jiofiber welcome offer was also announced during the meeting. Customers taking Jio’s Forever Annual plan will get 4K / HD TV set and 4K set-top box free.
Customers of the Jio Fiber Data Plan will be able to watch programs of several premium OTT platforms. However, the OTT plan has not been disclosed yet by reliance. Currently, Jio users get free with Hotstar subscription. But the most encouraging plan is the First Day First Show, under which customers of Jio Fiber will be able to watch the first-day first on their mobile as soon as the new film is released. However, this feature will be available by mid-2020.
The OTT platform has changed the face of the entertainment industry for the past few years. Apart from international companies like Netflix, Prime, many domestic companies are also making OTT content. Apart from the shows and series, films are being produced under Originals, in which many Bollywood actors are part of it. Organizing the 42nd Annual General Meeting, Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani informed that till now Jio’s customers have reached more than 340 million. It has also been informed that Jio has become the second-largest telecom company in the world to operate in any one country.
