Wing Commander Abhinandan who destroyed the powerful US-made F16 used by Pakistan soldiers, from his MiG-21, has reached Srinagar amidst his fellow colleagues to glorify the sick-leave instead of celebrating at his home. He is regarded as the hero of the whole country.
Wing Commander Abhinandan could go to his home in Chennai to spend time with his parents, but he preferred to go to Srinagar where his squadron currently is. A medical board will review the fitness of Abhinandan after the completion of the four-week holiday on health grounds so that the top Air Force officials can decide if he can join again as a combat fighter pilot.

It is notable that on 27th February, Wing commander Abhinandan was stuck in Pakistan by taking down F-16 aircraft of Pakistan. On one of the actions of the Indian Air Force on the camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed camp in Balakot, Pakistan Fighter aircraft had tried to target military institutions by throwing bombs at four places in districts of Jammu division. Wing Commander preventing this attempt was crashed in the soil of Pakistan. On landing down the parachute, he was arrested by Pakistani officials. After the incident, the Pak officials interrogated him and cross-examined him. However, after the efforts of India, he was returned to India on March 1, 2019.
