7 Famous Indian Personalities Who Were Born In Pakistan, But Are Made In India


Things might not be good between India and Pakistan today due to many conflicts. But several Indian personalities were born in Pakistan but their love was for the Indian soil.

  1. Manmohan Singh

Manmohan Singh was born on 24 September 1932 in Punjab province of British India (present-day Pakistan). After the partition of the country, Singh’s family moved to India. Here he completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies from Punjab University. He later became the 13th Prime Minister of India and is also an economist.

2. LK Advani

LK Advani was born on 8 November 1927 in Karachi, present-day Pakistan. His father was Shri KD Advani and mother Giani Advani. Advani, who came to India after partition married ‘Kamala Advani’ on 25 February 1965. He is the senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and his contribution in making the Bharatiya Janata Party a major party in Indian politics can be called supreme.

3. Sunil Datt

Sunil Datt was born in a village called Khurdi in Jhelum district of Punjab state in British India. This village is now in Pakistan. His family migrated to India during Partition. He won the election from Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha seat on Congress Party ticket in 1984 and became an MP. He was elected five times in a row from that seat.

4. Milkha Singh

Milkha Singh was born in Lailpur on 8 October 1935. He lost his parents in the chaos after the Partition of India. Eventually, he became a refugee and came to India from Pakistan by train. He was a Sikh runner who represented India at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and the 1979 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He was given the nickname “Udta Sikh”.

5. Gulzar

Gulzar was born on 14 August 1936 in Dina village of Jhelum district, Punjab, India, now in Pakistan. Sampoorn Singh Kalra (born August 14, 1937), famous by the name Gulzar is a famous lyricist of Hindi films. Besides, he is a poet, screenwriter, film director, and playwright.

6. Bhagat Singh

Bhagat Singh was born on 19 October 1907, Banga Pakistan. He was a prominent freedom fighter of India. Together with Chandrashekhar Azad and other freedom fighters, he fought the mighty British government with unprecedented courage for the independence of the country.

7. Yash Chopra

Yash Chopra was born on 27 September 1932 in the city of Lahore in Punjab province in British India.
