E-commerce is the buzzword of the day. We love the online shopping, booking tickets, looking up for places to eat and places to hang out. But we don’t quite like skimming through the vast choices that are thrown at us from various portals and often get confused and end up choosing something that does not suit our needs. Well, there is good news. BuzzOpinion is here to make our lives, easier and this is how.

About the product

Founded by IIT-Bombay alumni Anand Ramachandran and Vivek Arya, BuzzOpinion was incorporated under XCognition Technologies Pvt. Limited in 2016 as a simple artificial intelligence powered voice assistant for online shopping.

The tech platform for the voice assistant has been built on the lines of Siri for Apple, Cortana for Microsoft and the Google Assistant.

Speaking to TechCircle, Ramachandran said,

“With the rising share of e-commerce coming from smartphones, we thought our AI-driven voice assistant could pleasantly change the way people shop today.”

The voice assistant is found on its own website and also as an app.

How does it work?

BuzzOpinion concentrates on six categories right now viz. Electronics, movie, television, shows, places, restaurants, and hotels. It is soon to bring other categories under its fold as well.

The founders believe that none of the e-commerce players offer this much to the customers and that BuzzOpinion is one of a kind. It filters all the unnecessary options and brings forth the best option that suits the need and the preferences of the customers.

With the details being provided, the voice assistant comes up with the best possible choices within the price range. One has to click on the choices and then she would be directed to the specific e-commerce site. The users can also fix a ‘price drop alert’.

With whom have they partnered?

As far as the electronics are concerned, BuzzOpinion has partnered with Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal. PayTmMall is to be added soon. For movies and TV shows, the app depends on IMDb ratings and links the customers to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar. It also intends to partner with other OTT players such as Hooq.

With regards to hotels and restaurants, they have a partnership with just Booking.com but they have plans of working with others like Zomato, Trivago, MakeMy Trip etc.

Future plans

The founders of BuzzOpinion are hopeful that their product is one of a kind and that replicating it in a matter of few months even with a lot of money is not possible. They took two years to build this with a superb level of precision.

They are adding ‘Hinglish’ as the next choice of language as it is the most popular thing people opt for.

One can vouch for what the founders have to say about the future of their product as the Ramachandran-Arya duo had founded the MakeSense Technology Pvt. Limited back in 2009. It was an AI-based job portal that gained traction and was eventually acquired by Naukri in 2013 for $ 1.5 million cash and another $1million in ESOPS. The success of the job portal speaks for itself and that of the founders of BuzzOpinion.
